A message from Teri M. Wilczek

I often hear people describe places or things as "best-kept secrets" and wonder why we don't celebrate them more often. Teri Wilczek

In this issue of BenchMarks, you'll read about several of these secrets and why they are special to Marshfield Clinic.

We are honored to feature A&B Process Systems, a "best-kept secret" in Stratford, Wisconsin. You'll learn about their amazing success story – how they started with just two employees and grew to become a national leader in process systems in just 40 years.  During that time, they've remained committed to having their headquarters located in a rural setting and their dedication to our local communities through volunteerism and charitable support is admirable.

Next you will read about our Spirit of Giving honorees – some of Marshfield Clinic Development's "best-kept secrets." Their stories of passion and commitment, along with loss and hardships, will truly inspire you. Each of them represents something very personal and meaningful. Each has chosen to make a difference by supporting a cause that has affected their life journey.

People often tell us that Marshfield Clinic Research Institute is a "best-kept secret." In this issue, we highlight several ways philanthropic support of cancer research is improving treatment options and leading to improved care and cures. For example, we feature an innovative breast cancer treatment option available at Marshfield Clinic through the great work of Drs. Matthew McCurdy and Anna Seydel. We also welcome Dr. Douglas Reding as the inaugural holder of the Ebenreiter Distinguished Physician/Scientist Endowment in Oncology Research.

Lastly, you will read about two amazing women – Pearl Vorland and Celine Seubert – who both led amazing lives and were passionate about helping Marshfield Clinic. We celebrate their lives and their support of medical research.

Each of you may have your own "best-kept secret" of what motivates your support. Our team of Development officers is available to meet with you to learn how you might become involved in supporting research, patient care and education at Marshfield Clinic. Please feel welcome to contact us if you have questions or would like more information.  We would love to hear from you.

I hope you have a safe and enjoyable summer. Enjoy some of the best-kept secrets life has to offer you.

Sincerely,
