Mr. Frederick "Fritz" Wenzel

​​​Executive Fellow in Healthcare and Adjunct Faculty at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas​

​​​​​​​​​​Frederick J. Wenzel, MBA, FACMPE is Executive Fellow in Healthcare and Adjunct Faculty at the Opus College of Business at the University of St. Thomas, Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Business at the University of Colorado and past Visiting Professor at the School of Medicine and Public Health University of Wisconsin. He holds a BS from UWSP, a MBA degree from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and is a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. He lives in Monona Wisconsin with his wife Mary Ann. They have six children and 10 grandchildren. 

Fritz was Executive Director of the Marshfield Clinic Research and Education Foundation for sixteen years and then Executive Director of the Marshfield Clinic for seventeen years. He is an emeritus member of the Clinic's National Advisory Council. He was President and CEO of the Medical Group Management Association of Englewood Colorado from 1993-1996. He served on the Commission for Accreditation for Health Management Education with two years as chair. He serves on the boards of the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (Madison WI), Health Quality Partners (Doylestown PA, Chair ), past member and Chair of the Board of the American Cancer Society Midwest Division and a board member of Fairview Physician Associates (Minneapolis MN). He is on the Editorial Board of the journal Medical Practice Management. He has received many awards and recognitions the most recent from the Healthcare MBA Program at the University of St Thomas, the University of Colorado and the St George Award from the American Cancer Society 

He authored or co-authored 100+papers in addition to speaking at regional and national conferences and consulted with health care organizations throughout the country. He recently co-authored a book on “The Future of Healthcare Leadership Competencies”. He also wrote and edited a book with Jane M Wenzel PhD entitled "Fundamentals of physician Practice Management” in 2005. His favorite sports are mountain climbing, downhill skiing and sailing.
