Seubert Celebrity Trap Shoot aims for success

The 5th annual Rich Seubert Celebrity Trap Shoot, presented by Security Health Plan, was a booming success.

Despite April showers, and a few snowflakes, the event at the Eau Claire Rod & Gun Club raised more than $172,000 for heart research.

Rich Seubert played 10 seasons with the New York Giants, and was the starting left guard for the Super Bowl XLII team.  Rich is a native of the Marshfield area, and he created an endowment to support cardiology research at Marshfield Clinic in honor of his grandmother, Celine Seubert, a 25 year heart transplant survivor.

Thanks to generous support from Seubert's efforts and other generous donors, the Celine Seubert Distinguished Physician/Scientist Endowment in Cardiology Research at Marshfield Clinic stands at more than $1 million.

To help support the Celine Seubert Endowment, contact Marshfield Clinic Development at 1-800-858-5220 or visit www.marshfieldclinic.org/giving.

Unique auction items aim to please

In addition to sponsorships and fees paid to participate with Rich and the other NFL celebrities who attend annually, unique auction items – one-of-a-kind sports memorabilia items, exotic vacations, and world class hunts - have become a hallmark of the event.

"I go to a lot of charity events, and I've never seen items like those at Rich's event," explained Dr. Tim Pitchford, a Marshfield Clinic surgeon in Eau Claire, and the winning bidder of an autographed, game-worn helmet of Green Bay Packer Pro-Bowler Clay Mathews.  "We have a great time, for a great cause…and a few of us go home with great items we can tell stories about for years."

Other items included game-worn and/or autographed items from New York Giants greats including Eli Manning, Coach Tom Coughlin, Hakeem Nicks, and Zak DeOssie; an authentic University of Wisconsin helmet autographed by NCAA all-time leading rusher, Heisman Trophy winner, and former Wisconsin Badger and New York Giant Ron Dayne; and tickets to a number of unique, hard-to-get sporting events including box seats at Lambeau Field for a Packers vs. Viking game, box seats to a Badger game, and box seats to a Brewers game against Washington Nationals and Wisconsin native starting pitcher Jordan Zimmerman.

"Participants have come to expect an opportunity to bid on world-class vacation destinations too," explained Matt Schneider, Marshfield Clinic regional development officer.  "Fans of the ABC show, The Bachelor had a chance to bid on a 3 night trip to any of 80 Fairmont properties in the world…including sites where the show is filmed," said Schneider.

Two ultra-exclusive Relais and Chateau properties were featured at this year's event, The Ranch and Rock Creek in Montana and Canoe Bay.  "Canoe Bay has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveler Magazine, USA Today, Travel & Leisure Magazine, and ZAGAT Survey as one of the most romantic getaways in the country; and The Ranch at Rock Creek is the ultimate getaway for the shooting enthusiast…it's where a number of the New York Giants go to unwind."

Other amazing trips include TPC Sawgrass Golf Vacation; 4 separate Mexican Vacations, including 7 day all-inclusive getaway to the 4-star Moon Palace in Cancun, Mexico; and a the ultimate Leinenkugel Lover experience – dinner and sunset cruise with Jake and Peg Leinenkugel.

World-class hunts are also on the offering as Quinton Enders and Greg Anderson discovered while on a New Mexico Elk Hunt they won at the event in 2011, "We had a fantastic time," said Enders, "and we both came home with trophy six-by-six elk.  It doesn't get any better than that."
