Patient honors entire team

Bill Browe appreciates the care he receives at Marshfield Clinic so much that he made a Shining Star gift to recognize the entire team he sees in Oncology/Hematology.

shining star"I've been treated there for about six years and thought it was time I honored them with something since they've taken such good care of me," said Browe, 84, of Marshfield. "Instead of recognizing one Shining Star, I chose to recognize my entire care team."

Browe doesn't have cancer, but rather a rare blood borne disease called multiple dysplasia syndrome (M.D.S.). As he put it, his body doesn't make enough blood to keep him from getting really tired. He typically has lab work done every Monday, then sees a nurse. Depending on the lab results, he reports to Oncology/Hematology or sometimes to the hospital for a blood transfusion.

"I think they've done everything they possibly can," he said. Browe wanted to make a donation for research and could do so through the Shining Star program. Browe is a long-term giver who substantially increased his gift in honor of this group.

Browe's gift cited Seth Fagbemi, M.D., his hematologist/oncologist; Jane Frodl-Lubeck, a certified medical assistant; and registered nurses Randy Weker, Sara Strasser, Amber Mews, Susannne Dux, Melissa Kauffman, Amy Brooks and Mike Hargens.

"Thanks to them all for their wonderful care," Browe said.

Many grateful patients make Shining Star gifts

Patients making Shining Star gifts have the opportunity to honor an individual or department at Marshfield Clinic. They often share a message describing how the recipient made a difference in their care experience.

See Page 19 for a list of Shining Star recipients for February 1 through May 31. Congratulations to all Shining Stars for the compassionate care they provide. Marshfield Clinic is grateful to those who have made gifts to the Shining Star program.
