Despite the name – Degenerative disk disease is not a disease, but actually a condition. It is very common and is caused when disks in your spinal cord begin to wear down. It can lead to lower back or neck pain.
Lumbar disk disease
Lumbar disk disease can lead to lower back and leg pain, especially when moving. This disease can often happen as a result of aging, but can sometimes be caused by severe trauma.
Lumbar disk replacement
When a degenerated lumbar disk is in need of replacement, a surgery may be needed to replace the worn out area with an artificial disk. We have surgical experts who specialize in these types of procedures.
Radiculopathy - pinched nerve
A pinched nerve or radiculopathy can lead to a variety of painful symptoms including weakness, numbness and tingling. The condition can occur to many different areas along the spine and is a result of nerve roots that travel from the spinal cord to other parts of your body becoming damaged.
Scoliosis
Most cases of scoliosis are mild, but more severe cases do exist. The disorder is where the spine curves at an abnormal angle. Scoliosis is most common in children, but can occur in adults as well.
Spinal Fusion: Cervical
Cervical spinal fusion is a major surgery that permanently connects two of more bones in the neck area. This fusion is a potential solution if you are experiencing back pain caused by conditions such as degenerative disk disease, fractures, spinal stenosis and more.
Spinal stenosis
Seen most often with people age 50 and older, spinal stenosis may occur when the openings within the spine narrow and compress the spine or spinal nerve roots. Symptoms may get worse gradually over time and can include muscle weakness, pain and numbness.
Spine disorders
A variety of other spinal disorders and conditions exist. Our
