Frozen shoulder
A frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) describes a condition in which motion of the shoulder joint is restricted. Traumatic injury or long-term immobilization of the joint can cause frozen shoulder. It is also more commonly seen in individuals with diabetes, heart or Parkinson’s disease.
Rotator cuff tears
The rotator cuff is comprised of the muscles and tendons that surround the top of the upper arm bone (humerus) and hold it in the shoulder joint. An injury may result suddenly from a single traumatic event or develop gradually because of repetitive overhead activities.
Shoulder dislocation
A shoulder dislocation occurs when the ball-shaped head of the upper arm bone (humerus) is forced out of its socket. The injury is often seen in motor vehicle accidents and sports-related injuries.
Shoulder replacement surgery
Shoulder replacement surgery is often necessary if the joint is severely damaged by injury or disease. During shoulder replacement surgery, all or part of your problem shoulder is replaced with an artificial joint, called a prosthesis.
Shoulder separation
A shoulder separation, is an injury where the clavicle (collar bone) separates from the scapula (shoulder blade). It is commonly caused by a fall directly on the "point" of the shoulder or a direct blow received in a contact sport.
Tendonitis and bursitis of the shoulder
Overuse and repeated motion of your shoulder can cause a painful condition called bursitis. These issues occur when there is swelling between the ball of the arm bone (Humerus) and the top of the shoulder joint which may be associated with the buildup of calcium.
