Marshfield Clinic Health System defines an Observational Experience as the observation of an employee in his/her professional role with no physical (patient) contact other than airborne exposure.
Marshfield Clinic staff volunteer their time to allow observation of their practice. Because of the voluntary nature of the experience, meeting application requirements does not guarantee experience.
Marshfield Clinic will not be accepting any Observation Requests due to the COVID-19 outbreak until further notice.
To apply directly for an observational experience at Marshfield Clinic, a person must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. Please follow these steps:

- Sound learning objective or legitimate purpose must be submitted in writing or electronic attachment with the application.
Step 3:
- Complete a Health Information Report.
- Must be signed by your health care provider or be accompanied by copies of medical and immunization records.
Step 4:
- Read the Background Check Notice and complete the Background Information Disclosure Form. Note: This form requires a cursive/manual (not electronic) signature, and in order for us to run the background check, we need documentation of your Social Security Number. Marshfield Clinic will review the results and notify the student of approval or denial to observe at the Clinic.
Step 5:
Submit your completed Application Form, Health Information Report, Background Information Disclosure Form, and the following documents to the Division of Education - Student Programs by email or fax:
Please submit your application documents as one unit. Applications will not be considered unless the above documents are submitted together.
Step 6:
Nonrefundable application fee of $40 due at time of application, paid by credit card or check made payable to Marshfield Clinic. Contact your area's Division of Education program specialist for payment information.
Division of Education will be unable to approve and confirm requested experiences until all materials are back in our office. Please allow
30 days for an observation request from the date all documents are received and approved.
