Violence against women is a way a husband, boyfriend, or any sexual partner can control and demonstrate power in a relationship.
Domestic violence can take several forms, but if you answer yes to any of these questions, you may be at risk for domestic violence:
- Do you fear going home to someone who mistreats you?
- Is there anyone who will say hurtful things to you, hit you, slap, or physically harm you?
- Have you been abused before pregnancy?
If you are experiencing domestic violence, please don't hesitate to talk with your provider. Your Marshfield Clinic health care provider has resources available to help you.
You should also have a safety plan and be prepared to use it if needed.
