 Prerequisites for Child Life Practicum

We have an affilation established with Edgewood College and will only be accepting Edgewood students for the winter practicum. We offer four practicum positions during the winterim. This experience is an intense two week observation experience starting the first full week in January, with various Certified Child Life Specialists within our program. Hours vary and weekends are available to gain extra hours. Schedules would range between 6:45 am and 9:30 pm, M-F and 11:30 am - 9:30 pm Sat/Sun with our team for approximately 100 hours.

We have an affiliation with the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point for the fall and spring semesters. We offer two practicum positions during fall and spring semesters.  This experience consists of one 8-10 hour day once a week for the 16 week semester. This is an observational experience with various Certified Child Life Specialists within our program.  Hours vary and weekends are available to gain extra hours.  Schedules would range between 6:45 am and 9:30 pm, M-F and 11:30 am - 9:30 pm Sat/Sun with our team. Approximately 130-150 hours during the semester.

We are not currently accepting any other practicum applications at this time.

1. Minimum of 100 volunteer hours completed:

2. Resume

Include your education and experiences.

3. College transcripts: Junior status

Provide your transcripts and a list of current coursework; a student-issued copy is acceptable. You must be at least of junior standing and have completed Child Development and Child Life Theory coursework.

4. One letter of recommendation

Provide a professional letter from a mentor/supervisor of volunteer/work experience or from an educational advisor.

Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP) does not require additional protocol for practicum. A Child Life Internship is still required in order to become eligible for certification.

In keeping with ACLP standards, we don't have further prerequisites at this time.

Once your materials are submitted, we've completed interviews and you accept the opportunity, you will need to complete health work at least six weeks prior to your start date.
