 About Our Program

Program Aims:

The Internal Medicine Residency Program aims to achieve a 100 percent board passage rate among our graduating residents. We will ensure that they are well prepared to enter their chosen area of practice within internal medicine, be it in an urban or rural outpatient practice, as a hospitalist, or as a sub-specialist following fellowship training. The program's curriculum is designed to personalize training according to the career goals of a given resident. Additionally, graduating residents will be proficient in the areas of quality improvement and patient safety with particular emphasis on value-based and team-based care. Importantly, through skill acquisition, team experience and an evidence-based approach to patient care, residents will develop habits that will promote lifelong learning while sharpening their skills as teachers of medical students, fellow residents and other health care team members.  Graduating internists will be well-prepared to be team leaders as well as community leaders regarding issues related to individual and population health. The Marshfield Clinic Internal Medicine Residency Program is committed to the communities we serve, and we aim to retain our graduating residents as colleagues after completion of their residency.  Likewise, we recruit as sub-specialty colleagues former residents following the completion of fellowship training and ask them to return to Marshfield to serve our residents and our communities, especially in underserved areas and within unfilled specialties.
