“There’s no better feeling than the sense that you helped a patient improve his or her life.”
Dr. Veera Kommisetti sees adult patients with depression, bi-polar disorder and schizophrenia. He also has a special interest in working with elderly patients.
Dr. Kommisetti enjoys the field of psychiatry because he is able to help people with issues they often are reluctant to talk about with friends or even family.
“A lot of people don’t want to share or talk about their pain when it comes to mental health,” Dr. Kommisetti said. “I like providing that space where people can feel comfortable sharing.”
He said the best part of his job is seeing patients make progress.
“That is really the ultimate reward and why I do this work,” Dr. Kommisetti said. “Seeing people improve their lives is deeply fulfilling.”
Dr. Kommisetti earned his medical degree from Katuri Medical College in India. He completed a residency in psychiatry from University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi.
In his free time, Dr. Kommisetti likes to stay active by playing sports. He also enjoys reading medical articles and journals.
