Dr. Timothy Lichtenwald decided to
pursue health psychology during his
undergraduate years.
“While working as a medical research
assistant, I was impressed with the
power of negative or positive personal
psychology in shaping clinical outcomes
for cardiac patients in the rehabilitation
program,” he said. “I also noticed its
beneficial effects on a wide range of
patients in the emergency department.”
He noted that he is a firm believer
in evidence-based assessment and
treatment. He enjoys using the principles
of psychology to assist patients. Dr.
Lichtenwald also provides services in the areas of sleep medicine and coping with various medical problems.
“I am truly privileged to help patients
cope with serious acute or chronic
medical conditions. I enjoy being a
member of the pain treatment team,” he added. Dr. Lichtenwald has experience using cognitive behavioral, supportive and insight therapies as a component of controlling pain and anxiety. He has vast experience in treating various medical conditions in children, adolescents and adults.
Dr. Lichtenwald completed his master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and his doctorate degree at Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. He interned in a number of small communities in Wisconsin and Illinois, and his post-doctorate training was in southeastern Wisconsin.
“My wife – a clinical and surgical nurse – and I enjoy serving patients living in the rural community of Marshfield, Wisconsin.”
