As an orthopedic surgeon with a focus in sports medicine, Dr. Tamira Miranowski treats all the musculoskeletal structures that can be impacted by sports activity.

She cares for children and adults, including student athletes and nonathletes involved in recreational sports. She is also involved in local high school athletics on and off the field.

Dr. Miranowski was first introduced to orthopedic sports medicine in college – as an athletic trainer for the Minnesota Gophers football team. She worked closely with the players and the team’s sports medicine doctor, seeing firsthand how proper treatment enhanced the players’ abilities and return to normal function.

“I’m most passionate about how, through surgery and treatment, I can help get patients back to where they were before being injured,” she said.

In her daily interaction with patients, she focuses on “listening, being compassionate and taking the time to understand their goals and explain the treatment plan thoroughly.”

The Breckenridge, Minn., native was happy to return to the Midwest and be part of Marshfield Clinic Health System’s team-focused orthopedic practice.

She completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine at University of South Florida/Florida Orthopedic Institute, Tampa. She received her doctor in osteopathic orthopedic surgery degree at Midwestern University/Franciscan Alliance, Downers Grove, Ill.; and a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Western University of Health Sciences, Pomona, California.

In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy visiting family in western Minnesota and Chicago, running, boating/water sports, snowmobiling and travel.
