Provider Bio down arrow

Dr. Jill Meilahn specializes in treating young people who have conditions such as spina bifida, cerebral palsy, brain injury, sports injuries and neuromuscular diseases. She performs electromyography and nerve conduction studies to help diagnose nerve and muscle disorders in adults and children.

Dr. Meilahn’s concentration on pediatric medicine dates back to medical school, during a triathlon held to raise funds for a center for children with special needs. Several children were invited to the event, she recalled, and, “Later, when I went to the center to present the check, I realized that attending to children with special needs was my calling.”

She said, “Working with children and their families allows me to follow them through their lives, and help them view themselves not as people with handicaps, but as people with different abilities.”

Dr. Meilahn practiced medicine in Iowa for 15 years. In 2006, she joined Marshfield Clinic Health System, impressed by its research capabilities and wide selection of medical specialties.

After earning her medical degree from Des Moines University – College of Osteopathic Medicine & Health Sciences, Dr. Meilahn completed her internship in family medicine at Iowa Health-Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at University of Minnesota-Twin Cities Medical School, Minneapolis. She is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation medicine, and electrodiagnostic medicine.

Dr. Meilahn and her husband, Randy Lueth, have two adult children. She enjoys cross-country skiing, bicycling and reading.
