Dr. Elvis Peter is an interventional cardiologist who performs minimally invasive procedures to correct heart valves as well as other defects in the heart.

These include Mitra-Clip, TAVR, ASD/PFO closure and the Watchman procedures amongst others.

He is board certified and fellowship-trained.

Dr. Peter also performs minimally invasive procedures to open up blockages in the heart, legs or other parts of the vascular system, with expertise in using the radial artery in the wrist as an entry point instead of the groin for less bleeding risk and quicker recovery times for patients. He has special expertise in opening up arteries that have been closed for a long time which are called chronic total occlusions whether in the heart or legs.

Prior to becoming a cardiologist, Dr. Peter was a hospitalist and board-certified internal medicine and sleep medicine physician at Howard Young Medical Center in Minocqua. These skill sets in areas often related to heart disease give him experience and insights into providing superior heart care.

“Having lived in the Northwoods for 7 years, I am happy to be back home in Wisconsin,” he said. When not spending time with his two daughters and wife, he loves to be out on the golf course, though, as he says; “My golfing ability has yet to match my love of the game.”

Dr. Peter went to medical school at Armed Forces Medical College in India. He did his internal medicine residency at State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases at Louisiana State University at Shreveport and interventional cardiology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
