Dr. Timothy Wengert views his practice as a way to combine two passions: applying scientific approaches to providing the best medical treatment possible and interacting with people who are motivated to get better.

Board-certified in colon and rectal surgery and general surgery, Dr. Wengert has integrated this patient-oriented approach into his practice at Marshfield Medical Center. “I involve patients in making individualized health care decisions by explaining treatment options in a clear and understandable fashion,” he said.

Regarding Marshfield Clinic Health System, he said, “I wanted, and found, a community-based program that offered a collaborative staff environment and facilities that allow me opportunities to treat a wide range of conditions, from colitis to cancer.” “I simply enjoy using the gift I have to improve patients’ health,” Dr. Wengert said.

A graduate of the University of Iowa College of Medicine, Iowa City, Dr. Wengert completed his surgery internship and residency at the former Marshfield Clinic Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Ferguson/Blodgett Hospital, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He shares his knowledge and experience by training future generations of medical professionals as a clinical assistant professor, Department of Surgery-University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Madison.

Dr. Wengert has three children. He enjoys reading, outdoor activities and being involved with his children’s school activities.
