Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Electrophysiologist, specializes in treating arrhythmias, which are abnormally slow or fast heart rhythms.
Arrhythmias, can cause dizziness, palpitations, chest pain or loss of consciousness, which can lead to sudden cardiac death.
He joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2014.
Dr. Kumar offers interventions like implantation of cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators, or ablation therapy for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, as well as counseling, lifestyle modification and drug therapies. “I want to help my patients reach their health goals and enjoy an active lifestyle. I work to alleviate their anxiety and answer questions,” he said.

In his free time, Dr. Kumar likes spending time with his wife and daughter reading, swimming, playing tennis, squash or racquetball and going for walks. “My daughter and I love painting and doing art projects together. I also enjoy books related to statistics, history, psychology and philosophy,” said Dr. Kumar.
Dr. Kumar received his medical degree from the Institute of Medical Sciences, BHU, in Varanasi, India. He then completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York, where he also completed his fellowships in cardiology and electrophysiology. He specializes in hypertension, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiac rhythm device management and advanced electrophysiology procedures.
