“I love being
able to restore
people’s sight
and helping
to transform
their lives.”
Dr. Rebecca Bartow specializes in treating
people with a variety of vision disorders
through procedures such as cataract
surgery, cornea transplants and reshaping
the cornea.
She joined Marshfield Clinic in 1986, and
pioneered the Clinic’s laser eye-surgery
program. “The Clinic offers great medicine
in a good place to live and raise a family,”
she said.
Dr. Bartow was attracted to the medical
profession as a youngster. Her sister
(“my best friend”) dealt with multiple
health issues and her doctors “were
compassionate and supportive, and
had a profound impact on her life,”
Dr. Bartow said.
She brings this caring approach to her practice, along with lessons learned from her attorney father: “Listen to people, address their questions and concerns fully, and explain matters in a clear and understandable fashion.”
Dr. Bartow earned her medical degree at
Duke University School of Medicine, Durham,
North Carolina. She served her internship in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, Iowa City. She completed her residency and a fellowship in ophthalmology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is board certified in ophthalmology.
She has been honored by the Lions Eye Bank of Wisconsin as a “Knight of Sight,” recognizing her as one who exemplifies
the mission to give the gift of sight.
Dr. Bartow and her husband, Dr. Thomas Bartow, a rheumatologist at Marshfield Clinic, have five adult children. She enjoys visiting her family, quilting, knitting and medical missionary work.
