“My philosophy is that you have to treat the whole person.”

Provider Bio down arrow

As a neurologist with specialized training in autoimmune neurological conditions, Dr. Paula Aston sees patients with a wide variety of neurological conditions.

The best known of these is multiple sclerosis, an unpredictable, potentially disabling disease that can affect almost any part of the nervous system.

“I am very passionate about caring for patients with multiple sclerosis” Dr. Aston said. “We know much more about this disease than we did a decade ago and we have many more treatment options now”.

A native of a small town in Oklahoma, Dr. Aston feels at home in Marshfield. She earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine. She completed her residency in neurology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in Madison, and a fellowship in autoimmune neurology at Mayo Clinic.

She practiced in Marshfield from 2010 – 2014, left to join another health system, and returned to Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2016.

“I wanted to come back to Marshfield Medical Center because the care available at the Center is top-notch,” she said. “I missed my neurology colleagues dearly and realized how unique and important the subspecialty neurological care is here in Marshfield”.

She enjoys running, cooking and hanging out with friends. She and her husband have three mastiffs and look forward to being part of the community for years to come.
