“I want to help our community prevent heart disease and help our patients live long and healthy lives.”

Cardiologist Dr. Michael McGill focuses on early diagnosis and patient education in preventing advanced heart disease.

He joined Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center in 2011.

“I have a special interest in educating patients about preventing heart disease. My goal is to build our resources and diagnostic tools to detect heart disease in its earliest stages,” Dr. McGill said. “If we diagnose problems early, we make the greatest impact in preventing advanced heart disease, and have the best chance to help our patients live long and healthy lives.”

Dr. McGill enjoys living in a small community where he can make a big difference.

“I came to Minocqua because we vacationed here for many years and felt it was a great place to raise our family. As a family, we are involved in the community through fitness events that raise funds for area bike trails. I feel that it is vitally important to support resources that contribute to healthy lifestyles. There is nothing better than a bike ride through the beautiful Northwoods,” said Dr. McGill.

Dr. McGill is Director of the One Heart Nuclear Cardiology program, which features the first CZT nuclear camera in the state of Wisconsin. He comes from Winfield, Illinois, where he was the director of nuclear cardiology at Central DuPage Hospital.

He received his medical degree from the Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine, as well as fellowships in cardiovascular medicine and nuclear cardiology, at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison. Dr. McGill is board certified in cardiovascular disease, and he is a diplomat of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.
