Focus area: the importance of rest

mom and daughter sleep in the grass

Getting enough rest allows your child’s body and mind to grow properly. It also makes his or her immune system stronger and allows a “break” before taking on the next day.

  • If your child is between ages three and six, he or she needs to sleep at least ten to twelve hours each night. Children at this age typically go to bed between 7 and 9 p.m. and wake up between 6 and 8 a.m., just as they did when they were younger.
  • If your child is between ages seven and twelve, he or she needs to sleep at least ten to eleven hours each night.  At these ages, with social, school, and family activities, bedtimes gradually become later and later.
Be sure check out this post on Shine365 to learn more about how much sleep your child needs.
