On Nov. 9, a number of Minocqua area Marshfield Clinic transcriptionists put their talents to good use.
“We created comfort bags to donate to our cancer care services for patients who are in need,” said Barb Freudigmann, Marshfield Clinic transcriptionist for Urgent Care.
The comfort bags are sewn into a tube shape and filled with rice. These bags are given to any patients who wish to have them. The bags can be heated in a microwave or frozen and then used as heat or ice packs for a bit of comfort.
The creative group is donating the comfort bags to the Marshfield Clinic Minocqua Center Radiation Oncology and Medical Oncology departments.
“We went through 100 pounds of rice and created 72 bags,” Freudigmann said. “We had so much fun putting these together that we plan to meet on a regular basis to create more of these.”
The Marshfield Clinic system provides patient care, research and education in more than 50 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
