Two veteran researchers have accepted new leadership roles at Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI).

The Clinical Research Center conducts biomedical research, with a focus on improving human health by continually advancing disease knowledge and new therapies. It provides centralized comprehensive services, ensuring quality and efficiency in conducting studies investigating the safety and effectiveness of new medical treatments, including drugs, devices and biotechnology.
Clinical Research aligns resources from grant development to study completion through publication for investigator initiated studies, industry funded clinical trials, and federal and non-federal funded foundation grants and contracts.
Dr. Haws came to Marshfield Clinic in 2004 after completing fellowship training in pediatric nephrology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He completed a pediatrics residency at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio.
He is an experienced researcher, with more than 18 publications. He initiated the Clinical Registry Investigating Bardet-Biedl Syndrome, the world's first rare disease registry for BBS, and has received attention from the National Institutes of Health as a model for rare disease registries. Dr. Haws will build on Marshfield Clinic's outstanding record of carrying out state-of-the-art clinical trials, giving patients the benefit of choosing to participate in ground-breaking research.
Dr. Peissig has served in a variety of research and information systems roles since coming to Marshfield Clinic in 1990. She earned a Ph.D. degree in clinical investigation from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
