Nearly 200 Marshfield Clinic staff members have been honored with Shining Stars since the program began in 2012.
The Shining Star program gives patients and families an opportunity to honor individuals or departments who have made a difference in their Marshfield Clinic experience.

In some cases, grateful patients choose to honor multiple providers who they credit for keeping them healthy or saving their lives. Susan Vacca, a former teacher, has honored 15 Shining Stars to Marshfield Clinic staffers. All have provided excellent care to Vacca's family.
"I've given all those Shining Stars to the staff because they're very knowledgeable in their fields and good with their patients," Vacca said.
Douglas Reding, M.D., is one of the Shining Stars she honored from outside of Minocqua. Dr. Reding is a hematologist/oncologist at the Marshfield Center, who is treating Vacca's husband, Richard. Vacca couldn't believe that this was Dr. Reding's first Shining Star.
"I think he always takes the time to deal with people, which is amazing because he's not only a busy doctor but also the vice president of the Clinic. All of the Clinic's staff take time to listen to you, and that's what Dr. Reding does. You really know he's listening to you," Susan Vacca said.
