In tribute to Joseph Ousley, M.D.

Marshfield Clinic mourns the passing of Joseph Ousley, M.D., the Clinic's first hematologist/oncologist. Dr. Ousley joined the Clinic in 1955. In retirement, he served with the Green Jacket Ambassadors, a group of retired physicians, at Clinic events and fundraisers.

"Dr. Ousley was a pioneer in oncology at the Clinic," said Marshfield Center Oncologist William Hocking, M.D. "He developed the specialty here, then served as a role model and mentor for his colleagues over his many years of practice, all at Marshfield Clinic." On a more personal level, he noted that Dr. Ousley was "an exceptional physician, who devoted his life to caring for his patients."

Dr. Ousley was a generous supporter of Marshfield Clinic and actively participated in Clinic and community events. He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Marshfield, six children and 13 grandchildren.
