Dr. Kenneth D. Stone is an orthopedic surgeon with a keen interest in the engineering involved in joint reconstruction.
Dr. Stone was studying to be an engineer and was doing computer modeling of a total knee replacement when he had occasion to watch an orthopedic surgeon in action. “I really enjoyed seeing all I learned about theory and equations being applied, and I decided that was what I wanted to do.”
He specializes in adult reconstruction surgery, which includes joint replacements of the knee and hip. He enjoys talking to patients and finds that listening to them “gives me at least as much information as I get from X-rays and lab studies.”
Dr. Stone is from Texas but grew up in a number of locations due to his father’s occupation. He earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He chose to come to Marshfield Clinic because he heard favorable reports from acquaintances at the Clinic and because his wife, Judy, is from the upper Midwest.
He and Judy have three children. He enjoys the outdoors and spending time with his family.
