MINOCQUA – Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua providers and staff delivered the 100th baby since the hospital opened its doors in the community this summer.
Riley Mae was born at 9:06 a.m., Nov. 13. She weighed 6 pounds 12 ounces, and was 19 inches long. Riley is the fourth child of her parents, Max Zimmerman and Josie Graefe, of Lake Tomahawk, joining siblings Ella, Anna, and Daniel.
The attending physician was Dr. Barbara Coulter-Smith and Riley's pediatrician is Dr. Cynthia Henry. Nurses Lisa Walowinski, Sue Van Acker and Kassie Vassar assisted in the delivery.
Hospital staff presented a gift basket to the family as part of the celebration.
The hospital's first baby was born on its opening day to patient care, June 15. The birthing center with private rooms for labor and delivery, and dedicated C-section room for planned or urgent deliveries, is one of the many highlights at the newly-constructed hospital.
"There is no greater joy than the birth of a child," said Marshfield Medical Center-Minocqua Chief Administrative Officer Ty Erickson. "When we opened this hospital, we knew each birth was going to be a highlight for our staff and the community. We are proud to be part of the Lakeland area and provide care for our growing families."
