Sept. 6, 2016

Special 100th anniversary events to take place Oct. 10-14

Marshfield Clinic's 100th anniversary celebration will culminate with a week of speakers, tours, historical displays and special events Oct. 10-14 at Marshfield Clinic Marshfield Center.

Legacy Week will honor Marshfield Clinic's past while focusing on current patient care, research and education initiatives and looking forward to the future of health care in Wisconsin. Special events will take place to celebrate Marshfield Clinic's generous supporters and donors as they move forward into the next 100 years, including an Emeritus Reunion and Founders' Dinner at Hotel Marshfield.

Gov. Scott Walker officially declared Thursday, Oct. 13, as Marshfield Clinic Day in Wisconsin.

Legacy Week invited speakers will include:

  • Oct. 12 – Dr. Robert Golden, dean, University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
  • Oct. 13 – Shauna Devine, assistant professor, Department of Medical History, Western University School of Medicine, Pomona, California
  • Oct. 14 – Dr. Lee Gravatt Wilke, director, UW Health Breast Center

These presentations will be free and open to the public.

"It's wonderful to be entering Marshfield Clinic's second century in an atmosphere of growth, new beginnings and community partnership," said Dr. Susan Turney, CEO, Marshfield Clinic Health System. "Our six founding physicians believed patient care, research and education were important and we still follow that today. We look forward to sharing how we will continue to live our mission of enriching lives through accessible, affordable, compassionate health care during Legacy Week."

"Philanthropy has been at the core of Marshfield Clinic's mission, vision and values for the past 100 years," said Teri Wilczek, chief Development officer, Marshfield Clinic. "From providing comfort and support to patients and their families, to making groundbreaking research discoveries, to training the next generation of health care professionals in Wisconsin, our generous donors have ensured that Marshfield Clinic is able to go the extra mile to enrich lives. We are so excited for this opportunity to celebrate their generosity and look forward to the future together.

Marshfield Clinic provides patient care, research and education with more than 50 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
