Construction begins as Marshfield Clinic cancer services will move to Stevens Point Center

​​​​​​Stevens Point community leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony today as Marshfield Clinic expands its Stevens Point Center to accommodate its cancer services.

Marshfield Clinic has provided consistent oncology care to the Stevens Point and Portage County community since January 1990. Now that world-class care will be provided in the state-of-the-art Stevens Point Center that opened in November 2013.

Construction begins this week to add an additional 15,000 square feet to the 55,000-square-foot center, 4100 State Highway 66. A total of 24,000 square feet will be used to provide comprehensive cancer care, including medical oncology and hematology services that features private chemotherapy infusion suites, radiation oncology, high-dose radiation brachytherapy suite, oncology pharmacy services, access to clinical trials, and cancer care support services.

Stevens Point area residents already have access to Marshfield Clinic providers in family medicine and more than 20 specialties, including cardiology, dermatology, nephrology, ophthalmology/optometry, oral surgery, podiatry, rheumatology, physical therapy, lab and infusion therapy, allergy, endocrinology, orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatric subspecialties, plastic surgery and urology.

Marshfield Clinic patients receiving care at Saint Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point will be notified that appointments scheduled for after Feb. 1, 2017, will be at the Clinic's Stevens Point Center.

Marshfield Clinic provides patient care, research and education with more than 50 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
