February 8, 2017Family Health Center of Marshfield (FHC), a member of Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS), today announced the opening of its new Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center in Minocqua. The new center is located at 9792 Hwy. 70 West in the former Marshfield Clinic Behavioral Health department space.
A grand opening to commemorate the new community resource is planned for noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23. The public is invited to come and share refreshments and participate in a ribbon cutting by the Minocqua Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors.
Sheila Weix, FHC director of substance abuse services, said the new center reinforces Marshfield Clinic's commitment to helping people battling alcohol and drug abuse.
"Meeting the health care needs of the community, including helping those with addiction, is our No. 1 priority," Weix said. "Our new center will provide valuable outpatient services in a calm, welcoming and confidential environment, and delivered by experienced addiction counselors, as well as nurses, physicians and support staff with specialized training in the treatment of addiction."
Weix also wants to hear from the communities the center will serve to learn what additional services are needed and how FHC can help.
According to Greg Nycz, FHC executive director, the services provided at the new center align with the commitment of HOPE Consortium, of which MCHS and FHC is a partner. HOPE Consortium is a group of 12 organizations in north central Wisconsin that came together to help battle the growing opioid addition problem in the region.
"We would like to recognize the Health Resources and Services Administration for their grant support of this service. Recognition and our heartfelt thanks also go to the State of Wisconsin for their grant support of the HOPE Consortium," Nycz said.
