New Visions Gallery Hosts 33rd Annual Display of Marshfield Student Artwork

The original artwork of Marshfield students will be on display in the 33rd annual "Emerging Talents" exhibit March 5 through April 27. An Opening Reception will be held Sunday, March 4 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM featuring hands-on-art activities for children and refreshments.

Each year all Marshfield public and private schools are invited to participate in Emerging Talents. 198 pieces of outstanding student artwork from pre-kindergarten through high school has been selected by Marshfield's Arts Educators for this year's exhibit. Guest judge, local artist Carmen Duran, will select ten Excellence Awards from works by students in grades 9-12. Each award winner will receive a gift certificate, generously sponsored by Blick Art Materials, toward art supplies. This year's exhibit includes paintings, collage, jewelry, ceramics and more – each piece with its own unique style.

In a time when many view the inclusion of arts education as an amenity, research shows that the inclusion of visual arts education is actually integral to the development of students, including the development of motor skills, language development, decision making skills, visual learning, inventiveness, cultural awareness and improved overall academic performance.  Students that participate in the arts are four times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement, according to studies by Americans for the Arts.

Emerging Talents will be on exhibit March 5 through April 27 at New Visions Gallery, which is located in the lobby of Marshfield Clinic (1000 North Oak Avenue, Marshfield). Families, friends and interested visitors are invited to attend the Opening Reception honoring the students on Sunday, March 4 from 1:00 – 3 PM. This event is free and open to the public.

School and community group tours are available for this exhibit. Interested parties should contact New Visions Gallery to schedule a date and time.

"Emerging Talents" can be viewed Monday – Friday 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM at New Visions Gallery, located in the main lobby of Marshfield Clinic, 1000 North Oak Avenue, Marshfield.
