Thomas Jacob Leinenkugel was born to William and Mary Lou Leinenkugel on February 18, 1952. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison from 1971 to 1975 and received a BA in Business/Human Resources Management at the Pepperdine University in Malibu, California in 1979. Jake served in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1987. His active duty period from 1976 to 1982 included billets of platoon commander and executive officer of “D” company 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines. He concluded his duty as Battalion adjutant of 3/5 and as assistant to the staff secretary to the Commanding General, 1st Marine Division. Jake’s active reserve time ran from 1982 to 1987. He was very fortunate to serve as the Commanding Officer “D” company, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines.
At the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company, Jake started his career as an Area Sales Manager from 1982 to 1985, then progressed to District Sales Manager from 1985 to 1987, to Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 1987 to 1990, and from there moved into the position of President. Jake remained as President from 1990 to his retiremtent in 2015.
Along with his many responsibilities as President, Jake has been involved in many activities, such as: Board Member for the Wisconsin Labor/Management Council, Director of the United Way Endowment Fund, Board Member of the Chippewa Area United Way, Board Member of Momentum Chippewa Valley, Board Member of St. Joseph and Sacred Heart Hospitals. Currently Jake is a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Officer Association, serves on boards for Marshfield Clinic and the Casper Foundation as well as is involved in the Leinenkugel/Cray Research/Mason Shoe United Way Golf Tournament and Fundraiser.
Jake and his wife, Peggy, live in Chippewa Falls. They have four grown children, one daughter-in-law, two granddaughters and two dogs. When not selling Leinie's, Jake likes to hike the Canadian Rockies, spend time in Arizona, golf and fish for walleye and muskie.
