Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) has been made aware of instances in which patients have been telephoned by individuals falsely representing themselves as calling from MCHS.
MCHS representatives will not ask for credit, debit or checking account information unless the patient has agreed to make a payment. (Some of the scam callers have instructed the patient to increase the spending limit on their credit card account.)
Patients who receive a call they believe to be suspicious or believe they have been a victim of credit card fraud should contact local law enforcement and their credit bureau. Patients can also verify if MCHS contacted them by calling the number on their monthly statement.
