PreventionGenetics to house data storage and networking systems at Marshfield Clinic Health System data center

April 12, 2021

MARSHFIELD – PreventionGenetics, a leading accredited clinical DNA testing laboratory, has signed a colocation services agreement to use Marshfield Clinic Health System's top tier data center.

Marshfield Clinic Health System owns and operates an Uptime Institute Tier III certified data center to support its health care operations. The data center is purpose-built with redundant support systems for resiliency and efficiency to provide dependable and cost-effective colocation services.

Founded in 2004 and located in Marshfield, Wisconsin, PreventionGenetics provides clinicians with genetic testing for nearly all clinically relevant genes. These tests include Prevention Genetics' powerful and comprehensive whole exome sequencing test, PGxome®, and whole genome sequencing test, PGnome®.  PreventionGenetics also offers long-term storage of a person's DNA.

"While our Health System's mission is to enrich lives to create healthy communities, this partnership also demonstrates our commitment to the health care and life sciences community," said Tim Buss, Vice President of Technology/Chief Technical Officer. "Protecting the data of our business partners is a tremendous responsibility, one which we take as seriously as protecting our patients."

The Health System also provides data storage for companies in the IT, internet service and trucking industries. Our Service Organization Control (SOC 2) report gives our customers confidence that their data is protected by a company whose system and security controls meet or exceed industry standards.

"The increasing volume of data produced by genetic sequencing has resulted in a hardware expansion beyond what our PreventionGenetics' laboratory walls were capable of containing," said Ben Bluhm, Director of Informatics, PreventionGenetics. "When choosing a colocation partner, MCHS' data center was an easy choice with their security achievements and a top-of-the-line facility. "We look forward to expanding our data storage and security capabilities as well as high performance internet connectivity with the MCHS data center team."
