Out of an overabundance of caution, Marshfield Clinic Health System will pause providing the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The CDC and FDA recommended the U.S. pauses the use of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine to investigate six reported U.S. cases of rare and severe blood clots that may be linked to the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine. If you have developed a severe headache, abdominal pain, leg pain or shortness of breath up to three weeks after receiving the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine, you should seek care immediately. We are communicating to those patients who received the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine either at our facilities or at walk-in clinics to make sure their questions are answered. However the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine makes up just 3.7 percent of the total vaccinations we've given.
